Right, I've ordered me this (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/4481.html) to go with these (http://www.xen0phobiak.f2s.com/1sec.jpg) (speakers were a tenner in mint nick off a mate :D), some half decent speaker cable, a spare parcel shelf to mount them in, and this adapter (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330001162227&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:UK:31).

The head unit hasnt arrived yet, but I've taken the factory fit cassette player out to be greeted with this:

Seeing as my Nova-> ISO adapter is a cable that obviously isnt going to fit in there, what should I do?

get a screwdriver and bend that cage out with the wiring still intact then....

the plug at the bak is a standard iso block... push in the clips on the right that holds the plug into the metal cage..

the radio jack on the right of the cage is held on round the back by a clip once the cage is out you can un hook it and then you have to use a aerial adapter known as a dogs dick.

you wont need your adapter cable so that was a waste of money i am afraid mate. but on your existing wires you can strip a little piece off the cable surround and wrap your new speaker cables round that or even cut them to run it of your headunit and then run the wires.... alternatively run your speakers off and amp then all you need is a set of RCA's and no cut wires :D

jobs a good un.. follow that and it will be easy peasey. i love this job ! lol :D :D

erm, to know which wires to replace with my thicker cable for the rears (I'll replace the dash speakers and cable next month).

I'll have a look tomorrow when I get the cage out, thanks again.

the purple and green ones it is mate on the iso block, and on your standard vauxhall ones should just be the middle four wires:cool:

and no problem mate :thumb:

I think theres also a screw holding that cage in, right at the back in the middle, or was that on a mk3 astra, hmm,Lol.

Haynes has all the headunit wiring diagrams in.

I bought a ISO adapter and did not use it as I only have a permanent live feed (red) and an earth (black) and two speaker wires to start with! I chomped the wires from the stereo wiring harness to give this:

http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i246/dannyblo/Stereowiring.jpg

The speaker wires are all cut off as I am running the 6x9s off an amp (hence the remote and phono cables) but I could add a set of front speakers off the head unit with 4 bullet connections if I get round to it. These are the wires with black leccy tape being pushed away by my index finger.

I have bulleted the earth to the cars earth. The ignition (yellow) and permanent (red) were able to be joined together with the bullet connector within the harness (its the connector obcured by the black earth) before meeting the cars single red permanent live.

The reason for doing this is I had trouble fitting the stereo in the space provided with a full harness, an ISO adapter (which was pointless anyway) and a set of phonos.

Sorry to put you through that if you know what you are looking at, but it might help a bit to you or someone in future!!
