OK wanna move my battery as its a big heavy calcium job (diesel I think). Wanna put it in the rear passenger footwell on the right to **** some weight to the back and help balance L/R.

Question: Can I use jump lead cable to exend the main battery leads without any toruble? As I cant find anywhere that sells proper battery cable for that job cheaply enought by the meter.

also take into account the more flexibale the wire the better current can flow down it. make sure you use a battery box to fix it into :thumb:

I've just bought a box and straps etc. Does anyone disagree with jump lead cable. I don't see why it wouldn't work but like Dan said, I know flexable is better and jump leads don't tend to be. I'll check out those sites for proper cable. Thanks peeps!

Go for it, jump lead cable. More flexible then normal battery cable found on nova's

Are you relocating the battery for your hair brained leaf blower turbo??

lol No like I said for the weight balance as I have stripped allot, especially at the back.

I'm slowly but surely collecting the bits for a proper turbo job. 1.3 block, GTE head and 1.6 T2 turbo kit. So it'll be a 1.4 turbo or thereabouts?

Needs to be capable of 300Amps as cold winter cranking will be a bigger pull than youd imagine. But thats Very short term 300amps though

I've stuck my battery behind the passenger seat, a mate made a tray for it to sit in thats bolted thru the floor, the battery is also vented to the outside thru a small breather that goes thru the floor.
For the cable i got it from Vehicle Wiring Products, just bought the biggest stuff they had !!

SRI crazy is pointing out that BMWs have their battery's located in the boot. They must have sufficent cable to reach the engine bay (of the required standard), so why not get some of that..............

Stuart

because thats likely to cost a fortune from a dealer... an autofactor would simply give you normal battery cable at a fraction of the cost ;)

Wouldn't go near a BMW dealer for that. beavy69 can pick some up from the scrappy - theres bound to be at least one partially stripped BMW to take the cable from.
