Digi Dash Trouble

JUST FITTED A DIGI DASH TO MY NOVA 1.5TD REV COUNTER SAYS 5000RPM ON IDEAL ANY IDEAS?
PLZ AS THIS HAS ME STUMPED OR AM I JUST THICK:confused:

As far as i know clocks from 'petrol' Novas (inc digi dash?) won't work in diesel Novas for some reason ?
Sure General Baxter was on about it the other week ?

Pretty sure diesel rev counters work differently than petrol ones.
They dont run off the same signal.

its the rev counter, not the petrol guage
