engine misfiring

hi,just had a 2.0l 8v engine put in my nova,everything seems fine apart from it keeps misfiring,changed all plugs and leads including coil,all that is fine,but my battery is only charging at 12v when i beleive it should be 14v ? would this have anything to do with the misfiring ?
any ideas ?

check the earth lead connections, one from battery to car, one from alternator to head, one from gearbox to chassis leg, also check the connections on the engine loom.

If only misfiring from cold check for head gasket failure and white smoke.
Had one of these just last week misfiring and the clip that holds the injector loom to the injector was missing, causing intermittent miss, as mikey sr says.
Alternator probably not related but charge should probably be over 13.6v
