Can I put VW wheels (same PCD, different offset, ET 38) on the Nova, they will be 14 6J wheels with 195 45 tyres on. Am I right in thinking the wheel will stick out further? The car is not droppped yet, do you reckon there will be any scrubbing now or in the future?

My OZ's were 38's and you just get away with it provided you roll the arches well and dont go any bigger than a 195/45.

Not recommended though

Fair enough mate, is that on the front arches or the back or both? I have a 5 door so the arches are a different shape? Cheers Dan

should be fine on a 5 door, the arches are massive! You'll probly need to roll both front and rear still though.

I'll look for the 15x6 ones off an Astra first, simply so I don't have to roll the arches, but thanks for the info for future reference.

The Mark 4 Astra ones, the 15 x 6J steelies with lots of little cutouts in. They come on normal spec 1.6 Astras etc as the guy from next door where I work has them (and he won't sell them..). Its these first as tyres are reasonably priced, or the specialist VW breakers in Angmering for the Golf mk2 Driver/GTi 6Js. Just don't wanna be rolling the arches to hell (and don't really want to pay someone to do it to a shi**er like my car)!!!lol

Nowt wrong with ET38 besides being the wrong offset!

Mine are 38's and the car handles better with these then on 49's. Although im on my second steering rack in as many years so that could be of some correlation to the offset??

Thats what i kept telling people but they wouldnt believe me. Im on 42's now as me Toyo's are fat bastids lol

lol. My honest opinion is it does handle better with 38 wheels as they stick out a lot further then 49's resulting in a wider track then standard.

My front wheels actually stick out from the wings by a good 10mm! so should be an MOT failure lol but isnt.

It looks alot meaner though with sticky out wheels from the front lol

My old black GSi had ET49 Cav GSi rims and hadled good though, but i reckon that was due to a 60mm drop.

yer now you mention it my 45's felt better than my 49's but they where 1/2 inch wider aswell.

i honsetly think its 90% psycholigical with the "better" thing.

Esp as usually when you change the wheels / offset you tend to get wider rims and "better" tyres so of course its going to handle better lol

I actually had the same tyre on a set of 45 offset wheels before the OZ's and they felt better on the 38's.

So there. Get back to your wine lol
