View Full Version : Cheeze's GSi reshell
As some of you may know i sold the Modified nova that i had to a lad down weston super mare( drove up collected it and drove home )
Glad to see the back of it now, just didnt like it sitting about outside my house
Then got myself a bit of a rusty (aint they all) nova gsi with stainless exhaust for cheap enough from my mate with the intention of tiding her up with a paint etc, but what i never knew was the seat rails, chassis rails were totally shot, beyond what i was willing to repair.
So myself and my mate Pete who runs http://www.starkmotorsport.com are going to fully rebuild the car from the ground up with a few goodies that i have aquired along the way for the amount that i had sold the nova for.
Lucky for us a guy that he knows had a good shell that has been dry stored for well over a year, so we snapped it up straight away.
So thats it for the moment. Thanks for reading and i will post some more pics once we get started on it.

Comments welcome (none about the stickers on the tailgate plz )
Ok here are some more pics of the nova, we wondered why it sat so low at the ****, we found that the body spring seat had collapsed into the both about and inch and a half.
But as these pics show the shell it totally rotton everywhere you go

Holy crap i've seen some rusty novas before but that is awful.
Must be all that wonderful scottish weather eh.
At least you've made the right choice and starting with a decent shell for rebuild.
I assume you paid ?5 or something for the rotter. Is it mechanically ok? the oil filter looks about 15 years old, lol
Engine runs sweet as a nut mate, yeah the filter looks ****ed like, but if it goes i have another gsi engine thats getting a full rebuild, with some extras
and i thought my red one was bad! lol
i didnt even know you had sold the other one cheeze!
good luck with the new project mate! if your last one's anything to go by this will be real nice!
As some of you may know i sold the Modified nova that i had to a lad down weston super mare
Really? I might have to keep an eye out for that. How long ago did you sell it?
it was about two months ago, but it has been sold an e bay recently, this is it here http://www.scottishnovas.co.uk/galleries/features/cheeze/03.jpg
Woh, i thought my shell was bad! Good luck with that, whats the plan with all the rust, surely you cant just treat it and weld patches over it like i would as theres too much to cover and the car would double in weight!

I also noticed your bumper is slightly falling on the left, i also have this problem with this bumper, not quite as bad as you did but i dont understand why these bumpers do this as i seen a lot of them like this, im getting new wings soon so i gotta refit the bumper, hopefully it shouldnt drop on the left

http://www.scottishnovas.co.uk/rebuild/NovaGSi/StripDown24.6.06/DSC02314.JPGand shes gone!
I ant belive a shell like that was on the roads! lol did it have an MOT when you got it?
yeah it had an mot, but it ran out a few months back there, but its been off the road for a while
how the fook did that ever pass an MOT! Thats the worst shell i have ever ever seen!!!!
I've seen rally cars that have been rolled and ended up not as collasped as that (the rear end)!
Does it acid rain where that was from or something lol probably a good thing you took that sh*tter of the roads! lol
OMG, good luck with your project - your going to need it :)
that is definatly that worst shell ive ever seen, not just nova but any shell at all !!
all the best with the rebuild - are you going to kit it up again or go for a standard GSi look ?

The final look of the car hasnt been totally decided yet, but the only fibreglass that will get near it will be for weight reduction only. Steven's GTE was built for looks, so he has asked me to build this car into a track and sprint car, but keeping it road legal at the same time.
The new shell was taken into the workshop yesterday, but no work will begin until he has decided how far to go with the shell strengthening.

Did you pull that straight out a scrappy.
Fair play if your gonna rebuild it.
Then got myself a bit of a rusty (aint they all) nova gsi with stainless exhaust for cheap enough from my mate with the intention of tiding her up with a paint etc.
Nope, he bough it! How it was road legal at the time is beyond me! lol

Think this is because the fibreglass or wateva they made out of, heats up in the sun and begins to bend slightly, the rear of mine has done this.
L
Jesus Christ!! That white one was a health hazard!
Sorry guys there was a problem with my hosting yesterday.
Yeah the blue one need slight attention but nothing as bad as the multicoloured one lol, all part of the fun i guess
