HI ALL,

Just about to swap my SR engine for a E16se Lump, and wondering if my SR gearbox would be fine with the choice of engine?

If not what gearbox should i be looking for? also does anyone know the gearbox number from the SR (the nova's a J-reg)

Thanks

sr nova gearbox its most likely to be an F13Cr and will be fine on the 1600 :)

tut tut mr baxter it should be a F10 on the sr as opposed to the F13 on the GSI

Chances are the SR has a f10, and the e16se has a f13.
Your SR's f10 WILL NOT fit the e16se(if it has a f13), unless you swap flywheel/clutch.

yep, e16se has a 10mm larger flywheel which is just a little too big for the f10 casing.

Go for the F10 if you want faster acceleration and the F13 if you want top end.
IMO the F10 would be better unless you do lots of motorway driving, as IIRC the F10 final drive is 4:18 compared to the F13's 3:74.

Do the numbers on the box represent what torque they can take? ie F10 = 100 lbs of torque? If so wouldnt a modified 1600 engine more than likely kill it?

oh well i tried lol

F13Cr with 4.18 FD on a 1200 8v goes like **** of a shovle tho ;)

At the moment i?m using the f13 with 4.18final drive. With runs ok in my e16se but i still with stock injection and with this box i had to have a few more revs.
I?m waiting for a stand alone fuel management sistem...

:wall:

the F13 has two variants one Wide (effectively for speed) and one close (effectively for acceleration)
hte F10 does share similar ratios (see a link within my sig link about the speed in gear bit)

not all F10's have the 4.18 FD either.... its luck of the draw really

On your sig, Stu, where you can work out your speeds i couldnt find my box, although i thought mine was an F10CR, it only gave me the option of F10WR, could it just be that my box has the 4.18FD? (i guess that is the closer ratio unit)

you pick the box then the FD... incase yovue changed it.

also there never really was an F10 CR (if you look at the "NOVA GEARBOXES" link in the text at the top.

If you're not sure what gearbox you have, provided no-ones changed the final drive allready, turn the steering to the left, and look at the end of the gearbox underneath the left chassis leg, you'll see this hopefully,

In this picture you can just make out W4.18, this means wide ratio gears with a 4.18:1 final drive. A standard close ratio box will most likely have C3.94 stamped in the same place.

i wondered if it was like that, because i know my car has the F10, obvisouly coz its an SR, but i also know it does not have wide ratios

thanks for clearing that one up lol:)
