messing around with the car yesterday, went to vauxhall today and ordered all the nuts/ bolts to mount up the bumper! tiss trial fitted at the moment! also need to ram some holes in it for the oil cooler! ordered a new clutch cable and some new roof gutter cappings!:) dragged it out of the garage today and washed itlol the water was running yellow brown! almost 3years of dust and grimelol i expect it will be rusted to high hell by tomorrow!
any came up nice! just needs a t-cut go get rid of all the oily finger prints!
also re sprayed the grill mesh, all in all a good few days!= some thing big will go wrong any time nowlol

lol mixed veiws! deffo think the filler cap needs sprayng to tone it down! either way it needs a new rear bumper as this one has a gouge in it now!!
need to sort a hand brake now and run the wires from the rear abs module to the drivers kick well for the traction control. fun!!
thanks for the comments!:)

how much did all that work cost roughly? im thinking of doing the whole put in a 2.0l turbo + big brakes + coilovers and strip it out etc to my nova. But it only cost my ?500 so it probably aint worth it.

To do it properly takes a lot of time, patience and normally thousands of ????sss. Can do it cheap but the results will be cheap.

Why do you think cars like this and Rick's take so long?

You could do that for ?1.5-2K
But obviously you can spend whatever you want depending how you want it to end up.

sumed it up realy imo Simps, any one can throw a let in a nova, alot of the conversions ive seen at shows etc i couldnt let my car leave the garage looking like that! feck me this car has almost had me in tears, almost been broken for parts and in the past left me in deptlol i would say at least 10k is in this car from me alone! let alone what howell/ paul put into itlol should have bought a house instead and made some money:thumb: lol

Yep - A long long time ago - When Sie Bellis reshelled his peppermint green C20XE nova into it !!!

It's come on a long long way since then - I look forward to seeing it again in the near future !!!

well there is that mate!! remember the days of wondering which phase kit to get?! seems like yonks ago!! lol i even had phase 3.5 on the car got it running then set about dismantling it for some reasonlol
another reason why i like the car is it has some history with it! Dave seems to know the most about it! wish there were more pics of it from "back in the day":)

heh yea seen your car on the other thread aswell simps mate, looks ****ing beautiful. I was thinking uprate the brakes and suspension an everything first, then by the ammount of time that will take cos im poor i should be able to afford the insurance + cost of a C20let conversion :P. Simps how come your bumpers are that black? Mine are a faded grey and looks pants, you get em resprayed? if so how much it cost?

The Simps
21-06-06, 12:11 PM
Bumpers were brand new from vaux last year and thats the colour the come. I just use the autoglym gell stuff on them at the mo but plan on getting them sprayed shortly just can't decide on a colour!

I keep thinking of having mine sprayed black as the contrast is excellent. 2 very well suited colours. My window surrounds, wing mirror bases etc are all painted matt black and it looks so much better than the standard grey. I think i've just talked myself into what colour I'll be getting them sprayed! lol

On a totally different note, how did you recess the rear number plate into the bumper, that is the best place i have seen it put when you have a flush boot.

Awesome as ever dan, thats going to be an absolute handful, hope you have loads of fun with it!

See you at trax??

dan16v

Keith, dont think i can make trax mate! think im away on holiday:(

as for the rear recess im not sure mate as i didnt do it! i think you just plastic weld it from the inside then a fine skim of filler on the out side co cap it off! dont forget the cut outs for the number plate light!!:)

draper
22-06-06, 11:04 PM
im sure ive seen a ready made recess somewhere, you cut a slot in the rear bumper, mount the recess and fit a light - job done !

draper

for anybody vaguely intereted i found that recess i was on about

i knew that u could get them recesses somewhere...........

although is that not a bit of an awkward shape at the bottom.....

it just mightent fit a standard nova bumper that well....although they r very similar shape i must admit

28-06-06, 09:12 PM
Excellent work guys! didnt wanna flush my boot till i worked out where to put the plate, looks like i will have to be getting the welder out!
