Anyone help me with this one...

Have had my XE in for about a month now, but having taken it to the Ring where it behaved very well, it has now developed a rather annoying idle problem.

From cold it idle reasonable, but tends to breath a little (fluctuate) +/- 100 rpm at around 950 rpm, but when hot idles at about 950rpm and breaths +/- 200rpm, sometimes momentarily dips below 750 where it stuggles unitl your on the gas.

Generally the whole front of the car vibrates like %*&k and is really annoying considering it does short journeys in the week in traffic. I have at the moment (cheers Neil) a TAS front engine mount, but don't think the cabin vibration is just the stiffness of this as there has definately been a step change in idle performance.

All help greatly arppreciated.

Dave.

check for air leak in and around your inlet manifold, induction and also the pre volume chamber(sfi box) hope this cures your probs.

Finally got around to sorting the idle problem.

Changed the ICV for a second hand one my mate lent me. Even managed to change it from the top of the engine bay!!

I've got a powercap (or something similar), anyway no SFI box and was wondering if this has any effect on idle RPM.

With the replacement ICV idle at cold start is approx 1400rpm, this slowly goes down until 5 mins into cruise journey to just over 1000rpm.

Can this be adjusted by means of a throttle idle control or similar?

Dave.
