im going from carb tank to injection
i have a gsi tank, as was wondering if i can mount the pump in the engine bay to pull the fuel up like the carb pump,
or do they have to push?

Serious fuel pumps for motorsport applications. The units can be supplied as just a pump or as a kit that comes complete with the pump, union, filter union and mounting kit. Silver Road: 12 volt negative earth, 18 gallons per hour flow. Pressure 4 - 4.5 psi. Mounting can be at the front or rear. Suitable for use up to 150 bhp

you need either an internal or external mpi pump, mounted either in or next to the tank if you're using fuel injection. If you're converting to carbs the pump pictured will do the job, but it's safer for the pump to be mounted near the tank.
MPI systems need around 60psi from the pump, that one is only for use with carbs or to feed an external swirl pot.

iv gone from carb to injection using the gsi/gte tank (swirl pot inside)
i just dont want to mount the pump under the car on the leg, as im going for a mega drop,
but do they have to pull or push the fuel or can they do both?

you're best bet would be to plumb it in the same as on a gsi, but relocate the pump to the gap between the tank and spare wheel well, with a small guard plate made up atatched to the wheel well extending to the tank.
failing that use an spi tank with an mpi in-tank pump from an astra?

what about using the carb tank and swirl pot and pump in the bay?

maybe you could, but putting the gsi pump behind the tank is what was done on the group'A' rallycars, so if it's good enough for them and all that?
I think the GSI pump only works where it is on a gsi.

ahhhhh. ok:thumb:
on the flat pannel that goes verticle jsut infront of the tank under the car is an ideal place to mount the pump.
you need an inejection pump. jsut get one off a cav etc. you need to be able to pump 5Bar at a good rate...
those facets are push pumps too

BT says:
stu knows nothing
BT says:
tell him hes a gayer
BT says:
if you have enough suck it will work
BT says:
mine does!
BT says:
even sucking through a dead pump!
lol
lmao, i thought you were talking to him on MSN lol
Like i said to you, i run a carb tank with a standard **** pump at the back pumping to a swirl pot in the front, and then a cossy pump supplys the injectors.
I did 2 laps of combe on day before i realised id neglected to flick the switch for the rear pump, therefore the front pump was sucking through the swirl pot and through a dead pump, and i was STILL getting no surge! lol
oh dear shes got confused again...
the FACET CARB pump dosent like to suck :p dodnt say the mpi didnt like to. But id honsetly say that the MPI pump would suffer a shorter lifespan when mounted in the bay, unless its like lee peas setup, but thats lots of extra weight lol
The General has 1.6 16v power says
stu says it wont work
The General has 1.6 16v power says:
just fitting the pump in the bay
He didnt specify to me what wouldnt work, so i just told him to give you some abuse. Surely thats ok? lol
baxter do you ever read replies? lol

Facet pumps and most vauxhall mpi pumps push fuel only so you will need to mount near the tank, and dont forget to up rate the lines!
