Just wanna know if anyone on here has gone mental and tuned the tits off a small block 1.4 8v. Iam in the process of doing so and would love to see some pics of tuned 1.4's etc. Oh if anyone asks i know i could drop a 2 litre xe etc in my car but i really love the idea of a rapid 1.4 so :tard:

CP's was a 1.4 8v bottom end..... its a 16v now but meh does well enough.
same for big russ, had about 180-190bhp from the 1.4

see my tuning guide that i wrote for the 1.4 in my sig link

Thanks mate i dont wanna go mpi or sri head route. My setup is naff at the mo i have a 1.3 sr irmsher inlet manifold on my 1.4 head and iam running twin webbers. So i want a 1.3 sr head and a new cam and deffo need a new exhaust manifold should i go for a 4 into 1 or 4,2,1 manifold. then a wanna go for a 1.6 bottom end would that do. And if a ran that setup what bhp should i make????:confused::confused:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO fit a 1.4 mpi head and get a 1.6 T40 manifold. it will give you a hell of a boost in power and general driveability.

Cant afford to get a new 1.6 t40 manifold or 1.4 mpi head as i can get hold of a 1.3 sr head very easy plus they flow better than 1.4 sr heads. And i cannot see the point of not using my 1.3 inlet manifold as it would be a waste???

grante. your call i guess. but your not going to get the full "tune the tits off it" effect though

I know thats my probs its just money if i can find a 1.6 inlet manifold cheap and 1.4 mpi head i will go down that route but at the mo iam skint  but i just have to tune a 1.4 and scare some bigger cars i would love to see that look '' what the fook has he got under that bonnet''lol

If you cant afford that how are you going to completely tune the whole engine??

Or are you taking your time and spreading the rebuild etc out?

You've got to go for a SRI head, you'll get about 8bhp gain straight away.

Buying the bits first then gonna get some time off to get it all done so yeah gonna spread the whole rebuild out its just time and money. I really wanna get the sri head its just means i will have a useless bloody inlet manifold then?!?!? oh choices choices

A gas flowed and port polished SRi head, with a re-worked irmscher inlet manifold.

My irmscher inlet has been re-worked out to a 32mm inlet dia, the same as the head. And the outlet ports have been opened out to 31mm iirc. Now just gotta get another alternator lowering bracket, and a head gasket and the lot should be on so ill let you know the end result in bhp increase from the engines current state.
