you see how the headlight and indicator are missing of the roof chopped matt black nova, well ive actually got a custom made headlight and indicator vent that slots in place! Made from original GM headlight and indicator! Like the items you see on RS Turbos at track days etc

Theres a useless fact of the day for you! lol

get some pivs sorted, i might have it, is it for a mk1 or mk2 ?

Mike
13-06-06, 10:40 AM
mk2 only im afraid, i could make a mk1 item if you need one though? I might get it fibreglass copied. Like a batch of 10 or so just to sell on here and/or eBay?

Right, ill tell you what i do. Ill start a new thread later on this week with pics and prices. Because what ill do is get a load of replica's made up of the one original/master copy that ive got and depending on how muchit cost's me to get say 10 or 20 made will depend on the retail price of them.

However, i could for a cheaper price, make them all by hand but they take like 2/3 weeks to make one! (One being a drivers side headlight and indicator unit that WILL be made from original GM parts so will fit nice and snug!) :thumb:

baxter... when they said "matt" did they really mean BASE as opposed to metallic... eg i pained my car a non metalic colour and tis NOT matt lol.
id say satin finish would be good... or simply a sprayed but not polished black would be reasonable if the sprayer was good enough. basically paint it up with no runs and dont G10/3 it... could look cool.
meh your car your rules. Blackboard paint and chalk for ever changing abuse

With Matt black doesn't it mean that you can't laquer as this will make it shiney?

Just a thought for you Baxter

yeah thought so, put me down for 1 !! ive decided the cars going to be mk 2 now anyway

Mike
13-06-06, 01:27 PM
its a two piece item, so you can put just the indicator in and leave a fully working headlight, or vice verser, or even have both the headlight and indicator as a air intake at the same time.

Ill put it on my nova in the week and host a pic for you all.

if your going for matt black, as in the colour matt black. Just get it mixed in 2 pac, don't be cheapass and use a basecoat, as a basecoat is quite soft espically without lacquer, would wear quite quick. And before someone starts going on about a 2k is shiney, thats bo*l*cks as you know you can get it mixed like textured for bumpers normal gloss for cars and of course in matt.

Lol, you'll never be able clean matt black anyway, dirt etc just eats into the paint, and it stays permanently dirty, which i found out with my old bumpers,Lol.

Have you seen this months Practical Performance car magazine? a rusty, matt black Viva running about 430bhp (iirc)through a LET it looks mental. As a result of seeing this, I've been toying with the idea of a stripped, matt black Golf GTi mk 2.

That car is cool, seen the guy at the pod a couple of years ago and went over to talk to him but he was having a full on conversation with himself so i decided it best to leave him to it! But maybe you need a touch of madness to build a car like that?
