Been getting really hacked off with these mounts now and they're starting to hold back on getting the engine in!
Started with these mounts...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/TheSimps/Nova/Mechanical/EccentricTopMount.jpg
...but in their purchased state they will not fit the nova. You need to either cut away your turrett or get them machined down (how they can sell them like this and say they are for a nova is beyond me!). So I got them machined and had 7mm taken off the diameter...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/TheSimps/Nova/Mechanical/MountTop.jpg
Now even after they have been machined they still wouldn't fit! So to temporarily get them to fit we just bent back the lip slightly around the strut top and now I can get it in place in one position (so much for fully adjustable!!). Ok so lets get them fitted - but wait! Another problem...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/TheSimps/Nova/Mechanical/MountCollar.jpg
That is 1 of 2 collars that sit in the bearing in the mount, 1 top one bottom. Not a problem, a nice snug fit. Only problem is they don't fit over the f*cking piston! Now if you don't fit the bottom collar the bearing will actually snugly fit onto the lip on the piston...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/TheSimps/Nova/Mechanical/ShockPiston.jpg
...but with the top collar in place (eyeing it up as it doesn't fit remember!) it won't be high enough to reach the threads!!
So say I get both the collars re-drilled to go over the piston so it at least reaches the thread - still no good! The bottom collar will sit on the 2nd step on the piston leaving a weak spot.

Now I know there a few people running this setup:-
a) How have you modded the mount so you can actually use them for what they're designed for?!
b) Did your collars fit and if yes how did you arrange them?
c) If they didn't fit what did you do?
A very tired and fed up Simps.

i hacked the old top mount to death to make a spacer and fitted the new mount upside down. i'm respraying my bay soon so i'll cut out the turrets.

So you mounted the bearing upside down?

Stuart - WTF???!!!

long story, basically the easiest wayto fit them is to mount them upside down, you get full adjustment but the weight is on the circlip, to which i said if it snaps i'll eat it.

I take it by the eat it comment you think its highly unlikely??!! Would you still run the 2nd collar on top then?

i used all the supplied parts + some of the old top mount to take up the slack

I'll have a look then next time I'm at my folks and see how it all looks!

Cheers for the info.

yes its a heft circlip, but at the same time you dont watn to be loading them up too much. also mounting them upside down increases the ride height unless you drop the spring lol

Will it take the weight of an let & f28?! lmao

Ride height not a problem - coilovers ;)

I've got some AVO's waiting to be fitted and some eccentric top-mounts in the post.
I bloody hope the comp-brake ones fit better than the Ral-Des ones :(

i have got myne turned down 5mm and i need more off! i had to drill out the 2 ally collars as they were to small for the shaft on gazard coil overs! as you say its a joke! i have been tempted to run them upside down! but dont realy like the thought of the weight being on the circlip

I phoned Rally Design up about it and they have said the collars come like that with the 10mm guide hole so it can be drilled out because of the fact there as so many different piston sizes.

As far as them fitting the strut top they have never had any complaints or feedback otherwise.

Was talking to Dad tonight about running them upside down but he wasn't too keen either so for now I've put on the standard bearings and tops.
