v5+logbook?
Does a HPI check include stolen/recovered status?
I think a HPI check will tell you if the car is stolen/recovered or cat d, cat c (or even cat b if you are unlucky). Thats assuming the car was stolen and the car was recovered by Police. My Nova has had scrotes sniffing round it with the locks forced on a few occasions but the police haven't been told or haven't been interested enough to do anything about it, this kind of thing wouldn't come up on a HPI check. Of course you should be loking for all the correct paper work (V5 etc) and check the V5 chassis number (i think theres one in it) against the chassis number of the car. If they differ or the V5 isn't with the car, walk away.

just check all the nums add up old mots reg steering lock, if there is something dodgy walk away, iv had cars that i wasnt 100% about and wasnt happy with it when i got it
only things that previous owners ever made insurance claims for will be recorded on a HPi check. No claim, no record of it ever happening!
