why why why baxter, didnt your read all the other posts a while back about 16v engines ??

the head gasket ALWAYS goes, you need a 1.2 terbo with 48 headgaskets so you can run 1,00000,000 to 1 compression lol

your just building this half-heartedly :p

Adam
12-06-06, 07:29 PM
Ye, its a x16xe(alloy inlet, no afm), not a c16xe(plastic inlet, afm)
I think hes got the entire car loom with it,Lol.

General Baxter

your missing your front drivers arch on the corsa :D

Hi mate, i run a x14 xe in my nova from a late tigra,(99 model) I had a remanufactured ecu made for mine with the immobiliser input missing from the ecu, not as expensive as you'd think and a whole hell of alot easier to wire in!! Saves messing around with the bloody key type immobilser system, i'm a vauxhall tech and even i couldn't be ****d with it lol!

Adam
14-06-06, 07:11 PM
How much did it cost get the ecu modified?

John
14-06-06, 07:18 PM
Can't remember exactly offhand, but i think it was approx 180 quid? That was an exchange unit. This may have been cheaper for me though because of me being trade?

Adam
14-06-06, 07:20 PM
F**K
I'd rather save the money and wire the immobiliser in lol
Probably would be more expensive for someone not in the trade.

stuartp
14-06-06, 07:21 PM
Yeah the mud flap clip broke, so when i was bombin up the A46 it decided to jump ship and take the arch with it. I can remember readin featured in TV mag about them Eco-tech lumps they reckons about ?200 for a immbobalizer-less ecu. im lucky cuz got a c16xe (early gsi) with plastic manifold so aint gotta worrie plus its gettin webbered.

John
14-06-06, 07:25 PM
You ever tried wiring one of these in long live?

Adam
14-06-06, 07:29 PM
You ever tried wiring one of these in long live? Nope, but id definently give it a go for the sake of saving ?200+ Lol

Afaik, tape the transponder chip in place(that comes out the ignition key), and then wire the immobiliser ecu into the main ecu.
As long as you know the wire colours, should be fine.

Just noticed your a fellow Stoke-on-Trenter too :) :)

Here's one lads do ya reckon a ecu and engine loom off a non eco-tech (c16xe) will run a eco-tech lump (x16xe) same fittings on the lumps so should run???

John
14-06-06, 07:41 PM
I gotta admit i was lazy and went for the easy option! The wiring loom look neater too. I think the earlier c16xe had the immob input too? the gsi had factory immob.

John
14-06-06, 07:43 PM
No i don't think it'd be that easy, c16 has afm and no egr, whilst x16 runs on a map sensor and has egr

stuartp
14-06-06, 07:43 PM
Yeah but like ya say the lazy option looks tidyer and less wires to play up! put the early Gsi's dint have immobs!

stuartp
14-06-06, 07:46 PM
If they could be swapped because im webbering mine so will be lossing AFM still could work?

General Baxter
14-06-06, 07:49 PM
lol if your webbering it, you would not need a ecu

stuartp
14-06-06, 07:50 PM
Im havin Pure carbs not Alpha webbers which like ya say need a ECU because there trottle bodies!

stuartp
14-06-06, 07:54 PM
Baxter know any one sellin twin 40's??

John
14-06-06, 08:05 PM
Eh? Alpha webers are throttle bodies? As far as i'm aware alpha weber do kits to make twin webers carbs run management, they're don't produce JUST throttle bodies. It consists of a simple tps switch and crank sensor (which the standard 1.6 has) etc to enable the engine to be able to run electronic ignition, I've Never seen a 1.6 16v run a dizzy which you'd need to make it run without wires?

Adam
14-06-06, 11:57 PM

Carbs and throttle bodies are two different things.

You would need aftermarket management to control the ignition if you wanted a x/c16xe on carbs.

right im confused, so what car is this going into baxter?

the blue one, its having all new panels and satin black spray job :thumb:

SRlew
15-06-06, 05:29 PM
is that the one with boost lol or a different blue one? you seem to have had anumber of engines now then.

General Baxter
15-06-06, 05:31 PM
i can not deside which engine lol,

only problem is, only a few companys will insure the 1.7TD engine as its going from petrol or oil burner, and it bumps up the cost of insurance :(

SRlew
15-06-06, 05:37 PM
right, so i think im up to date on the baxter mobile now then, so when you getting rid of your boost for the xe then?

General Baxter
15-06-06, 05:40 PM
boost was never fitted, its going into lukes next week lol
