what is the standard 0-60 time for a mkII 1.4sr ?

i was using one of those professional timer things and i got timed at modified nationals too, ive done about 10 - 15 runs now and the time always comes out around the 7.5 - 8.5 mark is this right ?

i recently brought the car about 3 months ago and from what i know it hasnt had any engine work carried out, the engine itself looks standard apart from a k&n filter, it also has a janspeed straight through exhaust system

i would say thats right as a mate of mine managed just under 7sec in a standard SRi with a decat and mongoose system.

My MK2 SR does it bout 6.2 in the dry, but it does only weight 820kg.

Quoted time for a 1.4 carb is around 10 seconds, but manufacturers figures can be a bit conservative sometimes. Although the 1.6 is quoted around 9 seconds.

haha, My 181bhp/185lb's/ft 1.6 Turbo managed around 6.3 average 0-60! Best time was 6 secs dead so I really can't see how a 6.2 from a Nova with less that 100bhp is possible??? My GTE was just over 9secs in standard trim.

Bet you wish you'd saved your money now, not putting the LET back in my car now, after a 1.4 SR lump. lol

LOL @ this.
My old 1600 t40 did it in about 7.0s. So your saying a 1.4 sr is quicker.

B@llocks, ive got an in car video of an SRi doin 0-60 in 7sec's! and my SR literally only has two sparco's and a steering wheel, a 4-branch + ashley system, pierburg 2E3 + K&N (atm), some form of piper cam (ex-old owner fitted), GSi CR g/box and 820kg kerb weight! :thumb: ;)

Back seats and all useless interior trim fooked off on eBay! lol

Measured on a stopwatch by someone in the passenger seat or someone counting in their head lol

My LET Nova has absolutely no trim or anything and 280bhp ish and I bet that would struggle to get in the 5's, wish I hadn't bothered now lol

Ok,

1400SR 0-60 is about 12 secs give or take 0.5s

1400sri is about 10.5s

1600 gte/gsi is low 9's

1600 t40 set up well will do low 7s maybe evenm high 6s

2.0 16v XE Nova 6.5 ish

Turbo Nova depending how its setup how well power will go down will be anything from 5 -6 secs

A 1400sr t40 even with sri head and 300 deg cam setup well will struggle to get into 7's id realistically say high 8s

I do except for the XE time, think it would be more in the early 7's.

I managed a 7.69 sec 0-60 dash timed at Trax 2003

It was in my old SR with E16SE. Main mods were piper cam & exhaust manifold 110bhp & 120lb/ft full interior and a good launch!

Was it just using a normal nova speedo, or GPS equipment? Cos you can't rely on the speedo!

I've just compared my speedo with GPS on my GSi and it was 10mph out!!

(btw i'm only running 15's with 45 profile tyres so its not that far away from the standard rolling radius)

My bad boy 1600 16v does 5.36 0-60 on crap hard as fook tyres, when i've got some stickier stuff it'll be in the 4's :)

NovaNeil

haha, The above is true I can vouch for that.... although its not your average 1.6 16v Nova.....

My purple valver ran 6.67 best 0-60mph at Oulton Park, with filter/chip/exhaust, no rear seats but a stereo install.

Tried 6 runs, they were all under 7 secs tested with a GPS system used by Dave Clark (pro race driver) who worked for Max power and Revs (RIP)

Nova speedometers are possibly as optimistic as an optimistic thing with liberal lashing of hopeful sauce.

Lets see some printed slips from a proper proving ground not bouncy in car video of a speedometer wanging its way around the clock :thumb:
