Its summertime and the delco calipers have warped another set of discs...

Firstly, spending ?50 each for ATE calipers isn't really an option right now. I've read the relevant bit of the haynes manual for brake caliper overhaul and it goes on about fitting new seals etc, would I get away with just giving them a clean+lube to get by until the calipers are changed in a few months?

While I'm at it, I remember reading somewhere on here about sets of uprated discs and pads being about ?30 from mail order, which is only a few quid more than my local motor factors charges for the standard/generic ones. For road use what would be the best set of discs and pads for around that budget, where should I buy them from, and would fitting them require me to notify the insurance?

Thanks in advance guys.

You could fit a later set of ATE nova brakes, off a 1.2/1.4i(1992 on)
They are much better than the early delco brakes and wont seize.

New discs etc are mega cheap for them, and they are the same size as your brakes so will fit under the 3spokes fine.

Plus, if someone has upgraded there brakes you might find someone giving a set of the calipers away.

ive got a set of ATE 256*20mm (corsa 1.6 16V gsi) calipers, no discs or pads. should be heading up to north wales on the 1st of july....

?20 and they are yours if you wish.
They are a halfway house between nova gsi brakes and "valver" ones. They shouldnt warp unless your raping the ass off them
