Have you considered fitting a tuned 1.6 or a 1.6 16v it will give the same sort of power as the 1.8, be easy to fit, cheaper to fit, and a lot lighter than the big block engine so you wont get handling probs with the front end being to heavy. It's just a thougt as a 1.8 conversion is as hard to do as a 2.0 16v would be. The 1.6 16v engine has masive potential acording to SBD developments they have already squeezed over 200bhp out of one on throttle bodies. Hope I havn't put a dampner on your plans.

no im still goin for the 1.8. but ive now got a wide arch kit.this means i can drop the i.8 in with out shotening the shafts, by putting extending the tie rods, and putting in the arm from the astra.tha back is having a vectra beam.handlin will be well sorted as it will have a track about 8 inches wider.also the 1.8 can get 160bhp jsut on webbers and a cam.
thanx for the suggestion though.

I am soon to put a 1.8 8V Astra in my Nova, can anyone shed any light on what to do to this engine before sticking it in my car? I reckon a good overhaul would do it good. I do think i've done well to get everything i need for ?100. As soon as i have ?50 it's going in my nova. Not bad eh
