Engine code should 16sv thats the small block 1600 and has the same mounting points. Although the engine is looked upon as inferior by many ppl here. It has a lazy engine for a 1600 only putting out 80 something bhp. You would be as better off with a 1400 sr engine if you want to stick to carbs. Or the proper 1600 engine is the 16se, which is 100bhp and MPi fuelled as in gsi novas. A proper 1600 engine compared to the 16sv, and there's alot more power to be got with the 16se.

if you drove a gsi nova and then drove your 16sv nova, you would always regret fitting the cav engine as its alot slower than a gsi.

Absolute tosh,

I have a 16sv engine and there is nothing wrong with it, All I have is a 4 branch, filter and rr tuned and I made 96bhp and 106ft/lbs torque before I rebuilt it, my car easily matches gsi's, and I can do 0-60 in 9 seconds which is as fast as a gsi.

The 16svs are easily available and you can find good low milage ones.

I have no experience of driving a a 16sv nova, i'm only going by the techincal, pratical and the money aspect of it. I really don't doubt you can make it as fast as a gsi, you've obviously made a great job on your. I really was'nt making a dig at you, in fact you've made your point known, because you have got almost 100bhp from the lump, good work. But i think most ppl would rather start with the 100bhp model, after all most of the ppl going to bother with an engine conversion would like to have as much power as possible at the time from what lumps available to them. But hey if your driving a 1.2 nova and all that available was the 16sv, i'd take it.

don't think there's a "diagram" availble. But many ppl here including long live the nova knows what colour wire is for what part. I'm sure he'll explain it to you :) Then its just a case of tracking down the wire in the locations. For exmaple go to the starter to find the switched live and join it and so on.

One thought that crosses my mind, is the ecu located in the same place as the 1.2spi item? Also would it just be a case of unplugging old and plug in the new e16se ecu? Or does the plug need changed(rewired)?

ive always put the idea of 40's off because i thought it would be a pain in the **** to get them set, i also assumed you would have to have them re-done like every 4-6 months or something along that lines!

if you go to a PROPER rr in the first place you can get the carbs set like dans to never drift out of tune!

Nar it wont just plug in, its a different management system than the 1.2i, so it would need wiring.
The e16se ecu is mounted in the engine bay.
