Alternator

Will an alternator from a 1.6GTE nova do the same job as the alternator off a 20SEH cavalier?

It fits and all but will It be too small powerwise?

i would have thought it would be ok , get a voltage reading of how much its putting out

Gte alt will most likely be lower amperage than the cav one, if you dont have lots of electrics it'll be fine, if you have a large ICE system it will probably struggle to supply enough juice, as nova alts were only 55amp whereas the cavvy alt would have been at least 70amp. You can tell what amperage the alt is by looking at the code on the top (viewed when fitted), it'll end with 55A or 70A.

i got a small altenator of an 8v on my 2.0 16v and thats fine, so it shouldn't be a problem
