again im asking for a mate as he doesnt have the internet.
anyway he did the same conversion as me by putting a 1.4sr engine into his 1.2 spi corsa. we both used the spi loom and dizzy and it was running ok.
now he has fitted his t40's we need to set them up.
does anyone know what the timing should be set at in degrees btdc as i can plug the computer in and set the timing exactly
cheers
you can reprog the spi ecu?? do tell.....
usually we use the 1400 real dizzy and coil and module setup as that negates the need for the ecu at all

no i cant reprog it but i can read it, this gives me the timing in degrees btdc then i can turn the dizzy untill it shows the correct timing.
where do the 1.4 dizzy coil and module plug into my loom?
pass on the loom front, but its only 3 wires. swlive, earth and tacho.
turning the spi dizzy does little - nothing for the ign advance as the ecu sticks to what it knows.

theres only 3 wires for the coil, dizzy and module?
Three wires for the module.
You cant really adjust the SPI dizzy/coil ignition timing, not like on a carb dizzy. Using a SPI dizzy will loose you power.

the engine came out of a astra 1.4 still the 14nv though
iv got the dizzy coil and module but the connector on the dizzy is different to the corsa one, as is the one on the module
if i use a carb dizzy do i need the vacuum connected?

When I had mine tuned up Boggy disconnected it, I have since re-connected it as mine just wont idle properly without it.
Most people leave the vacuum disconnected.
