can a std number plate, example J*** MRT be transfered onto another vehicle?

Yes, i think it is possible, as long as the car is eligible to wear the plate (a J plate or later car in this example) as people often approach my dad with offers on his vintage car plate. You will incur a charge for swapping plates over though.

you pay a transfer fee and wait... I belive the vehicle must have a valid mot and tax to transfer onto though...

it will tell you on the log book. for example on a mates log book it says reg not transferable
