Excellent! Another TDI nova in progress :thumb:

Try finding an inlet from a corsa b combo 1.7D (old ones iirc), they have the inlet on the driverside ;) pic:

Because the 1.7 has a bigger turbo then the 1.5's you'll need the alternator support from the 1.7's and modify it: (front & back side)

http://home.quicknet.nl/qn/prive/cw.jelsma/Turbo%20%28155%29.jpg
I used an angle grinder to take off as much as possible (and some off the alternator as well) to get it as close to the engine as possible,
that way you can use the original belt and it won't foul with the front member.
I also drilled out the outer bottom mounting hole on the alternator so it didn't foul the suspension rod that's underneath it. (bolt from volvo truck parts, and the tensioner as well)

I'll take a picture of my old alternator, so u can see what i did to it.

I've done the first 1000Km's on my rebuilt 1.5, it's running pretty sweet and is proving to be lot's of fun :D
Currently sorting oil cooler & modifying the exhaust "system" (decided it was time to put a muffler on)

Took a little too much off this one, was arsing with longer belts at the time when one of my mates suggested
modifying the support which solved the problem of it fauling the frontmember :thumb:

Volvo part numbers are:
947963 M10x25 allen bolt with sunk head
949044 M10x30 allen bolt with sunk head
949302 M10x40 allen bolt with sunk head

I'm using the M10x25 bolt, maybe a little short but it was the only one in stock (@ work)

why have you done all that? iv got a complete 1.7TD engine, which droped stright into a nova shell!

oh and there NOT TDI's they dont have injection

Good work then ! I went from a 1.5D to a 1.5TD and one of the problems was the alternator hitting
the front member / suspension arm/front support (not all the time but when the engine tilts under braking / judders on idle)

The alternator is now mounted straight up and i've got the same belt as on the 1.5D (875mm long),
1.7's & Corsa D's have got a 925mm long belt and the alternator is mounted tilted forwards.
