mk1 door handles

hi,
i have a nova gte, and the interior door handles keep popping out off the hole in the door. i have taken the door cards off, and taken the two bolts out of the handle, and then to get it out you have to twist it. but the hole on both my doors has got bigger and the small latch on the handle doesn't fit properly anymore.

anyone got any ideas as to what i can do?

Epoxy them in place?

If you've never used epoxy resin before, mix a small amount, and apply it to both surfaces, leave it for a few hours to dry, then mix some more and stick the two surfaces together, clamp them in place if possible. Epoxy dries in a few hours, but cures over a day or two, so try to avoid using the interior handles for a day or two after bonding.

yeh, i know what epoxy is. but dont think it'll work, will still need to take the handles off at some point. dont want to glue them to the door.

Bond a bracket in to bolt them to?

dont quite know what you mean. its the bit thats right at the top of the handle, dont know how i'd bolt it to the door?

yer my driver side used to do that. try and make the sticky out bits on the handle bigger. possibly weld somthinon to it. i think it was metal anyway:confused:

yeah id just do what srlew said try and weld something to the end or even just a blob of weld on either side of it may hold it in.

ok, cheers guys. might try bashing the hole on the door as i dont have a welder :( going to look at getting one this summer.
