im getting a full car soon and will be transplanting the works into my car.
whats the best gear box for acceleration?
would a 5-speed F10 give better acceleration?
or am i better to leave the standard F13 in?
cheers all

F13 Close ratio cluster, as found in some Nova gte/gsi. And a 4.18 final drive or CWP some like to call it, found in most if not all SR nova's. Put the gear cluster and the FD in a f13 or f10 gear housing and it is briliant to drive. Although very prone to wheel spin on a tuned 1.4 with 14" wheels. I have it and its very thrilling to drive on my tuned 1.4
be warned the GTE/GSI can come with a F13 WR box.. ive seen some.
id use the F13/F15 gear casing as it allows for the 1600 sized clutch.
but an F13cr with 4.18/4.29/4.53 FD is good.
ive written an FD swap guide which should be in the tech guides part

1.4sr came with a cr 3.94 f10. IMO the ratios are perfect unless you use motorways a lot.
No advantage whatsoever in the f13 or 15 unless youre going for big power
the F13 is identicle insode to the F10 lol. and the F15 is largely the same but a different design for the Pinon mounting

they allow you to fit a bigger clutch which you dont need unless going for big power, and IIRC you cant fit it to the 14nv block anyway.
Also IIRC the input shaft bearing is bigger. Otherwise they are identical except the f15 doesnt have the clutch inspection plate.
ive fitted an F15 to a 14nv before.
the bearing might be bigger bit i belive the input shaft is the same diameter but the outter race of the bearing is larger...

so what your saying is to just use the orignal f13 casing?
Yes vaux mixed and matched alot of gears and cwp's. So just check the plate anyhow of any gsi boxes you find. I've never seen a sr box with a 3.94. In my experience any i've seen have 4.18 fd or at least every SR is "suppose" to have this ratio according to vaux, but as mentioned towards end of production there was abit of mix and match

and there's no point in stan fitting a F15 to a SR is there, i presume it was just mentioned as a side point?
i merely stated that the F15 casing would do....

the f13 and f15 will fit the 1.4sr, but you wont be able to fit the bigger gte/gsi/sri clutch as the ends of the blocks differ IIRC. Not a problem till you go for mega power anyway.
FYI srs come with an f10, not an f13 normally.
