will an oil cooler from an early calibra/cav, fit on to my 1400 nova?

yes. BUT what are you doing to justify running one?

eg if you cool oil when its not getting that hot anyway then you risk damaging the engine...

i didnt know that, its for my road rally car, i supose the engine would be warmed before use, and it will always be driven quite hard. just thought it may make the engine perform better when warm

You want the oil to stay at its optimum working temperature to provide best lubrication.
A cooler is not needed unless the oil is being heated to above normal temperature.

ok, so what you guys are trying to say is that theres not much point in myself fitting one of these to my 1400. it will be at high revs for most of the time, but again the road sections it will be more casual driving.

i havnt a clue, i know it came out of an astra stage car, when it was in my mate nova it done a 1.9 pug gti and it has a 4 speed box, unfortunatly i have to replce a valve and follower due to the last owner miss useing it for less than 200 miles.
think it started off as an sr
