Alright all,

THe old girl passed the MOT on Friday. Didn't get a chance to post over the weekend. The tester remarked on how good condition it was for the year. Hopefully it'll be only doing another 6 months on the road before i pull it off for a rebuild and to tidy up a few little bits on the chassis (24K genuine miles).

Question is though do I go XE or 1.6 T40? I'm really not sure on this one.

Cheers

2.0 8v eventually turbo'd running 350+ bhp..........

Good news though bump on the MOT. Most of us cower for cover but yours is minty mint & shouldnt fail for a few yrs yet.

I'm leaning towards a 1.6, it's less weight so always an advantage, bearing in mind i'll be going for the sleeper look.

Just out of interest does anyone know of an exhaust that would "improve" either setup without giving me a headache or being able to put a baby's head in it?

its got to be the 1.6 8v - lighter, better handling, better braking and i think for torque than the 1.6 16v . also before i start a big argument, yes you can get a 2.0 16v to handle and stop as well - but it will cost you more. mite as well start lighter. i'm sure you can have just as much fun in a 1.6 T40 as a 2.0 16v if not more.

saying that i really really want someone to supercharge a 1.6 16v. neone please...

also i say how pleased i am with my full Ashley system and manifold, really nice tone, picks up loads better from lower down as well, plus the whole system weighs about the same as the standard manifold. ace.

Agree small block is better choice really, in terms of handling & conversion costs.
