does anyone know anywhere that i can get toughened valve springs for a 1.6 8v within the next 2-3 days?

From the engine in your garage!
That engine had toughened valve springs in it, they came with the piper cam which is also in there.

You should have just swapped the lumps over, the one I sold you was a peach, full rebuild etc

so's this 1, runnin 126bhp@6150rpm, jus gone in4 bit of a rebuild, jus spent 700 on parts for it

What is the spec of the engine? 40's?
