hello

my carb arrived today! YAY! neway becoz i dont have time or funds to rebuild the gsi engine at the mo, i want to put my carbs on the 1.2. first question: can i use the gsi inlet manifold? if so, should i change the cam or will it be alrite for a bit? anythink else i need to buy? fuel pump/reg? the car is a 1991 1.2 carb (flair - 12n) do i need to change coil, leads, dissy and all that?

cheers

technically you need to change the inlet for a 1300/1200 carb item as the ports wont be right on the gsi one.

id be inclined to atleast get a kent AST2 type cam (285 degrees)
keep the mech fule pump but fit a regulator to the outlet before the carbs.

same coil/dizzy etc

wot about the gsi cam? if i did buy a cam tho, would the ast2 cam suit the gsi engine on t40's as well? also u say 'technically' - so it wud fit but wouldnt drive very nice? cause damage somewhere? only asking because i have never come across a 1300/1200 manifold unless its the same as a 1400sr...
one last thing, wot gains would i be looking at roughly from a) the 1200 and b) the 1600? both with the ast2 cam, T40's and 4 branch.

cheers

the ast2 will fit all small block 8v engines... (bar the 1.0). It will drive fine if its setup properly by a good RR that know what they are doing.

there is such thing as a 1200/1300 T40 inlet, usually goes under the name of irmscher inlet or something like that but they deffo exist i have a non irmescher one lol

TBH a decent 1600 8v engine/bottom end is very cheap to comeby these days that a full rebuild isnt 100% nessecary...

I wouldn't bother fitting them to the 1.2, if you have a 1600 to use.
1)You'll need a different manifold
2) To get them running well you'll need to get them setup for a 1.2, and then set up again for the 1.6 when that goes in.
