View Full Version : Please Help ! Can't wire Kenwood stereo to my Nova l
Can anyone help me suss out my wiring problem? I've got a Kenwood kdc 3024 which I'm ( desperately) trying to wire up to my nova L (1984). I've got a double wire in the car which I just can't figure out, it's brown and brown/red. There's no live red wire in the car but a black which goes to a switch on the dashboard.I'm just not sure how I'm supposed to connect these main wires. I've blown the fuse a few times trying so any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks, Luisa

haynes manual be best choice if u can follow one but i think the brown is live is it a fattish wire?
try car shop or an ice speicatiyl
i had this problem with mine when fitting my sony unit, in the end i just made my own loom up for it, the nova 1 was getting a bit tatty anyway , plus u can put in some nice chunky wiring and ull know what it all does next time theres a prob

thick brown is earth. brown/red doesnt exist in the wiring diagrams I've got. you will be best off running a new permament live from fuse 16 or via a stand-alone fuse conected to the battery. Nova's never had an accessory position on the ignition switch so you'll have to find a black wire coming off it which is live with the ignition on for the switching side of things, unless you connect the yellow and red on the kenwood harness together so that you can have the radio on without the ignition on, but you'll have to remember to turn it off every time.
If you're going to pvs and haven't got it sorted by then keep an eye out for me and I'll sort it for you.
