i peronaly dont mind it. you'v got to start somewhere for more speed, and weight saving is always a good start i recon. i did it to my SR standard spec engine etc.

Well it'll make you quicker, and is relatively cheap!!!#

You could buy buckets for around ?100 each, harnesses for ?40 each, a rear cage for ?120

forget about a cage until you have got some serious power.
strip out the interior, i heard someone say they did that on there 1.2 and got just over 60mph in second. Dont know how true that is
air filter, ?30
upgraded cam shaft ebay ?70
4-2-1 manifold ?50
then she'll go like fcuk!!!
there is a fella near me who has that done to his, very fast car!

im looking to get a 1.6 gsi soon anyway mate, although i just thought about getting a cam anyway, but its an spi so i probably will just wait till around christmas and get a gsi lump, and stripping the interior and getting roll cage just means i dont have to do it in future, i dont have to give lifts, it looks nice, and hopefully it will handle better:thumb:

Do it right, i now have 1 seat in mine. No point in carrying around extra weight now is there.

Definately don't forget about the cage. Just because you don't have a big engine doesn't mean the car won't roll. Safety first.

iff you can find a cheap cage go for it, because its a 1.2 doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't put a cage in it because thats just bollox

i got my cage from demon tweeks mate, its a omp rear cage with a diagonal and diagonal door bars, mine was 250 quid though, and its supplied unpainted. For your price range mate you might have to shop around, i can't think of anywere that do cages for 150, maybe try ebay.

probaly be safest using an etch primer, considering its bare metal. Altough Mike did'nt and its okay, but it maybe better in the long run incase the paints started to flake in a couple of years, not saying it would though. BTW you can buy etch primer in a areosol, its a little more expensive tha usual areosol cellouse primers.

i'm going to get a better cage in a year or 2, so that one will do for now lol, we just quickly painted it because it was starting to rust, and yes we did rub the cage down before we painted it lol
