Advice Im Confused about what engines?

First off i will apologise in advance if this is a Re-post! secondly my mechanical knowledge is quit limited at the best of times! So here it goes....

I am driving a 1.2i Vauxhall nova and have been told that a 1.6 16v or even a 1.4 16v engine would be an easy swap, if there is such a thing lol Anyway is this true? i think i would be capable with a few of my mates of taking an engine out and putting another one in but is it that simple? do i have to Do anything to the gear linkage for example? i would just like to see the full picture on how much is involved on this? Please help i would be most greatful many thanx

Wiring is the issue with a 1400/1600 16v, with the later engines having an immobiliser system built into the ecu(so you need the wiring from around the ignition barrel, and the chip out the cars ignition key)

You will also need to mod your front section exhaust to fit the 16v downpipe.

Apart from that, the engine just fits in, standard shafts,mounts etc.

A much easier conversion for a 1.2i nova, is a 1.4i engine, basically remove 1.2, fit 1.4 in, and plug the 1.4 engine into the loom(same plugs as 1200).
Then just swap the 1200 ecu for the 1400 one.
No wiring at all

Not a massive gain in power, but a completely straight forward conversion.

how much should i expect to pay for a 1400 lump then do you know anyone who is selling 1?

For a 1400 16v, anything from ?150-?300.
Depends on mileage etc.
