Would like some info on how hard it would be to put a 1.8 16v out of a vectra into a nova??

What extra bits would i need and what needs adjusting??

why on gods earth would you want to put a 1.8 16v out of a vectra in a nova.... i mean you can get a red top cheaper and it will go in easier...! Forget the idea unless you up for some real ball ache!

i have a c18xe in my nova, i am over the moon with it , a lot more toque and still really quick, it about the same as fitting a xe i had problems with the ecu, not having the key out of the astra it came out of, and i made the exhaust manifold myself out of a xe manifold

erm cheaper to insure IIRC there only group 9 in the astra
also i think it would use the same conversion parts

Dont understand why you would want to put that underpowered piece of piss lump in the car.. when there are so many better options... doesnt matter wether the engine was from a group 9 car mots insurance companies treat it all the same its a conversion thrfore they hit you big.

Why would a c18xe be worse than a c16xe?

because hes trying to be different, as TOO MANY novas now have 2L16v engines in!

and insurance companys will quote you on the car the engine will come out of, that why you want a c20xe from an cav not an astra gte ;)

Is the corsa C 1.8 a small block?
In that case i would imagine it would be easier to fit than a big block vectra engine.

Yup /\
Great engine, 1800 16v small block.

But with modern day wiring/immobilisers, wiring could be a problem, plus the cost of the engine in the first place.

Fitting a 1800 16v will be the same process as any other big block engine, it wont be a c18xe either, it will be a ecotec jobbie, around 115bhp iirc, if its a vectra.

So it will have the transponder chip/key immobiliser that you will need to wire in too.

TBH, i think id go with a 1600 16v out of a corsa gsi/sport, much easier conversion, and similar power.

Just put the redtop in it. to much ball ache for a newer engine!

But theres more novas with redtops than 1.2s, how many do you see with 1.8s ;)

well if he does good luck with the wiring etc it will be a nightmare

Wiring will be exactly the same as a redtop.
Just the few extra wires for the immobiliser system.

a mate has a vectra he bought for 500 quid just as a run about for a couple of months now its sat doing nothing and he just said he fancied putting the engine in a nova.
i know it is harder than a red top thats why i asked.

anyway i said i'd try and find a cheap nova to put it in, all for abit of fun.

I thought there was something about the imoberliser and ecu to sort out with them.

would i need a conversion kit for a 1.6 16v and just use that??

Small block 1.8 16v eco goes staright in.. same driveshafts, same engine mounts same gearbox  just a bit of wiring and heater matrix pipes need to be modded. Other thing is the rad pipes are a bit of an ar*e about face jobbie. but good engine, mine only had 6k miles on it :D

ECU, transponder and receiver must all be the same.. else it won't work.. I have a matching set avaialble if anyone wants it...
