Are there any types of engine oil that shouldn't be used in a nova? Or any that really stand out an good oil to use, cos I'm due another oil change and am thinking about going to mobile 1.

old nova engines + mobil 1 = bad news it is too thin an leaks out too easily so only use it in new or rebuilt engines

a semi and not too thin
i'm using some ?16 stuff from halfords i can't remember the make but i've had no serious engine blow ups like i had on mobil 1
but better than good oil is checking oil daily

Every one shuold try ask the nice chaps at vauxhall, the do a quality semi-synthetic for about ?12 you can't get better than that, for vauxhall stuff as well!

yeah my mate at vauxhall got me some of that ages ago, I might see if he can get me some more.

I try to change the oil every few months, and thought I'd find out a bit more as I have modded me car a bit more, I and suppose I should be quite fussy about what I put in it now.

I've just put some GTX Stuff for basic engines in my mine and I have to say it seems to run alot smother then it did but I bet you can't tell till you try a few oils first! Mine cost (?6.99)

I use GTX magnatec, about ?18 from halfords. Good for cold starting as the oil sticks to the pistons apparently.

Castrol MAgnetec GTX for basic engines is ok. The viscosity is 15/50. However, dont mix this up with standard Magnetec, because that is 10/50 and is too thin when warm.
U can notice quite a difference using Magnetec over standard GTX!

GO FOR SYNTHETIC MIGHT BE DEAR BUT THE BEST
