HELP Whats this part called and what does it do?

Ok, its a black box thats located in the n/s footwell. Its as u sit in the passenger seat, its to the left of where ur left foot is! behind a little bit of of trim.
It looks like this but i dont know what it is or what its supposed to do any ideas?

The reason for asking is its started to make a loud buzzing/whistling noise all the time running or parked up. but i dont know what it is or what it does. any ideas? thanx :thumb:

thanx thats what i thought but the passenger central lockin hasnt worked for months. and now this is makin funny noises. its go a gm part number on it. but its all faded an not read able so would i be right in saying a gm part number is a genuine vauxhall part? but novas didnt come standard with central locking?

yeah higher sep did Sr and GTE's did only on passanger door, i have one here if you want a part number and i alos have a full eleetic window kit and centroloking door if you intrested

ah iv always wounderd what that box was. and my passenger central locking doesnt work either, mines the motor in the door though.

i thought mine was the motor to. so i got a new motor but not got round to fittin it yet. lol
