Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a decent company that will undertake one off carbon fibre projects?

I know of the specialist VDub company "ALL SMILES" but can anyone suggest any others that will make to order?

The reason I ask is im looking into the possiblity of a Carbon Roof Skin. As I have seen them on Golfs, Mini's and Paxo's etc so someone must make them.

Cheers

Neil

I phoned to ask a day or 2 ago

Fibreglass roff = ?125 + VAT + ?15delivery

Will take a few days to make

Carbon and Kevlar available, but at a higher cost

Note this is a motorsport part - not for styling, so the finish maybe intended to be painted, not a laqured weave a show car may expect

I've emailed two companies but no response yet.

This Motorsport direct..... have you got contact details? because when I search for them on Google it lists the site, but when I click on it it takes you to a site that sells tickets to various motor racing events

the non steel roof's need a trick ass roll cage inside to be safe still.

bear in mind that gm charged ?150 for a steel roof, that price for a grp one is good. i think you can get kevlar ones for that price too, and they offer a whole 3Kg weight save lmao

I have decided agaisnt this - you need 'x' roof bars for this mod - and then the final weight savings aren't that good

Planning to plate my sunroof hole instead

Got my first reply... About ?200 more than I wanted to pay.... will keep looking.

HI Neil

Thanks for the mail, what you need is a mold taking off the roof of the car and then a part making from the mold. The roof then needs cutting away leaving about 20mm around the edge, then the new skin bonding needs bonding to the old roof edge.

We could do this for you but of course at a cost of around ?600 to ?700 for the molding work.

Best Regards
