Excellant feature in TV fella! I'll have to show it to my brother as I don't think he realises how similar his is going to look to yours when it's finished! He thought he was being original with standard GSi looks and anthracite speedlines - he'll be disappointed lol :thumb:

Cheers for the comments guys, I'm happy with how the feature come out.
Thought it was about time I updated my site, www.nova-turbo.co.uk (http://www.nova-turbo.co.uk)

Car is off the road again now for winter, doing a few bits on it while it's tucked up in garage too...

Few pictures from the updates..

Time for a bit of an update I think...

While the car was off the road last winter I decided to modify it slightly, so I set about stripping down the front end again as we needed to re-weld the turbo pipe that snapped while I was out at the ring last year.

http://www.nova-turbo.co.uk/NovaTurboModifications2009/img_3912.jpg

http://www.nova-turbo.co.uk/NovaTurboModifications2009/img_3916.jpg

I also cleaned up the thermostat/housing and painted it up and replaced the seals as this had been leaking for a while.

http://www.nova-turbo.co.uk/NovaTurboModifications2009/img_3994.jpg

While it was in bits I decided to send the injectors off to be cleaned and refitted these.

http://www.nova-turbo.co.uk/NovaTurboModifications2009/img_3995.jpg

Also removed the standard fuel pressure regulator and fitted a FSE type fuel blanking/recirc plate.

http://www.nova-turbo.co.uk/NovaTurboModifications2009/photo6.jpg

Fitted a T-Piece in the fuel line and fitted a fancy little sensor...

http://www.nova-turbo.co.uk/NovaTurboModifications2009/photo11.jpg

Undid the wiring so that I could feed it through to the dash.

http://www.nova-turbo.co.uk/NovaTurboModifications2009/photo13.jpg

Started to make a pod to house my new gauge.

http://www.nova-turbo.co.uk/NovaTurboModifications2009/photo17.jpg

http://www.nova-turbo.co.uk/NovaTurboModifications2009/photo20.jpg

Also Rob made a fancy bracket up to hold my Weber fuel regulator in place.

http://www.nova-turbo.co.uk/NovaTurboModifications2009/photo16.jpg

Fitted the regulator to the bulk head and plumbed it in, also drilled and tapped my enlarged top hat to fit the boost pressure sensor.

http://www.nova-turbo.co.uk/NovaTurboModifications2009/photo23.jpg

Fitted the pod and boost/fuel pressure gauge in the centre console.

http://www.nova-turbo.co.uk/NovaTurboModifications2009/photo26.jpg

http://www.nova-turbo.co.uk/NovaTurboModifications2009/photo27.jpg

I also fitted a phase 3.5 ECU and power wheel, setup the fuel pressure regulator and have been running it since. Took it to the ring again in July, only issues I had was due to blowing boost pipes off the bottom of the turbo, this was easily sorted by fitting some Mikalor clamps.

Car will be cleaned up and tucked away for winter again soon, not sure on future plans for it, going to replace some of the fuel pipes and maybe the injectors, as i'm not keen on running such high fuel pressure and I will also get it setup properly at some point. The thought has crossed my mind quite a bit to sell up and do something else, as I've done what I wanted to the car. Will have to see. :)

I should imagine it's sat in the garage under a cover mate, he's started a Mini van project on his FB page.

I've still got the nova, think I used it twice this year, once for the MOT and once for VBOA Billing. It's tucked up in the garage with two other cars, my new project as Scott mentioned and another fairly well known nova...

lol that must be a very snug fit in there!

Do you leave window down to stop condensation ruining things?

andybishop

It's a bit better since I moved things around at the weekend, Nova's are right up against the front door and Mini Van is behind, with room to work on it and get to the bench. Yeah that Scott and being able to lean in when moving them about.

Good to see that karls old car is still about. Does he still own it? mini van will be awesome! are the braces to keep it all "straight"? :)

andybishop
26-11-11, 08:56 PM
Yeah Karl still owns the Nova, he brought it up to Stoke a few months ago so we could get some work done on it. Braces between the door frames and a the bar across the car between them are to keep it straight. The bars on the rear door are to keep it straight and also for the spit to attach to. I brought it as a work in progress project, It's already had one side of the floor replaced, most the panels are there to get it done. Just doing lots of research and planning what to do with and what engine to put in it...

Awsome stuff Andy, xe for the mini? (lol) Would be good to see karls car out and about again :)

andybishop
26-11-11, 09:15 PM
Karl's Nova will be sorted and out and about Next year i'm sure. I'm looking at all the options at the moment John, Only problem with an XE or LET is having to extend the front end or have a bulge in the wing and bonnet. Not sure I could cope with a 1275 or 1380 for long. Could go the same way as Rob Delicata did with his Clubman....

Wow that's awesome! (now there's another old school nova name lol) I can't quite see what it is in the back, zetec or v-tec? I do have to agree the big block vauxhall lump looks a bit awkward in a mini. The only nice on i've seen is the one with custom bonnet and lots of carbon. Keep us updated Andy!

andybishop
26-11-11, 09:31 PM
Yeah Rob used to have a Black K Reg Gsi and a couple of nova's previous to that. It's a Z Car's kit with a Civic Type R vtec engine in the back, been on the rollers at 230 bhp, it is awesome, just ask NickJ he went out in it a couple of months ago after a night out with us in Stoke, came back a bit greener that he was before it went!!

I will update this thread with progress on all the cars in the garage!!!

Nick J
26-11-11, 09:32 PM
Robs car is truly fantastic John....... His work ethic/ level of detail on that mini is something else! He took me out whilst I was at andys the other week and It goes like stink. You just need huuuuge ear muffs and some asprin afterwards as its uber loud!

Andy........... I felt soooo ill that morning! How I survived the outing with Rob was beyond me. Everytime your golf went over a speed bump I shuddered Lol! Next time a little less drink for me I think.

Is this the same garage that you had years ago? I remember buying a bumper off you and that mr2 was sat behind the house. Fair play to fitting them 3 in there lol

Car is an absolute stunner, im guessing it's with you for life?

andybishop
26-11-11, 10:30 PM
I've had various MR2's behind the house, in the garage and down the side of the garage, but yeah its the same garage, I did have a bit of a panic on when I said I'd buy the Van wondering where they would all fit.

The thought as crossed my mind quite a few times in the past about selling the nova...

Sell it, dont be silly mate. We have these little moments about every 5 years, do I sell it do I keep it.. As you say to me, put it to one side forget about it for abit. Time to have tinker with the new project.

Nick, I really felt for you the morning after (the night out) We have calmed down alot in recent years, good you didnt come out with us about 10 years ago, carnage!

Thought i would put these picture of my hubs on here as I found them today and a few people had been asking about the setup on another thread.

Not changed anything on the Nova for a while, just pulled it out the garage a few times a year... May make a few changes to it this year. Not done much with the mini either, but time to get cracking with that too.

What do the bearings and carrier bit come from? Any Nova plans you'll let us in on?

Sorry Benn I missed your question here from a while back, the bolt on retaining but is machined from Billet I believe to fit the original dust shield holes, i'm still unsure what the bearing is as i've never had to replace it, but recall it being off a van of some sort. Will have to get in touch with Andy Lloyd who made them to find out incase i do ever have to replace them.

Not many plans for the Nova, could do with a bit of tidying up here and there which I will sort at some point.

Really nice example mate. I've got a red gsi on 60,000 original engine would love to do the whole turbo conversion thing but the engine is too good to take out really. May have to look for a nice shell and do a build instead
