Hi can anyone write a simple guide how to change the head gasket on the gsi, ive looked at the haynes but its sayin i need to remove the pulleys etc before i can remove the belt. any help would be appreciated as its holdin my project up and its nearly finished

the haynes manual is correct... you need to remove the cam pulley ergo you need to remove the belt etc.

If you have a auto tensioner fitted, you can remove the belt without touching the cam sprocket.

how do i remove the alternator pulley at the bottom?

Put it in 4th gear, handbrake full on.
Get a big breaker bar and undo the pulley bolt.
You will have to take up the "slack" in the transmission before it becomes tight enough for you to undo the bolt.

Make sure you torque it back up when you refit it, its the only bolt that holds the crank sprocket/pulley on. Dont want the cambelt shooting off,Lol.
