If u wanted to u cud use sparay paint with the usual preperation on the door, only the problem is gettin exactly the right colour to match the rest of the car-especially if the rest of the paint is slightly faded through weathering etc- so wot if in the long run u save up bit xtra 4 a full respray-but totally up 2 u! :D

i live in nottingham as well and i know of a few places that will give you a decent respray outside only for ?150, in all colours, Even metallics, but as nova gurl said you would find it hard to get exact colour match asd all other panels will have faded over time, also if you go to a vauxhall dealer they can give you a slightly faded flame red depending on your year of manufacture, they do this to compensate for weathering!!!

with sprayers you get what you pay for!

pay bugger all and get a crappy result
pay a lot and get a good job

BEng (hons) just isnt enough, i need a Msc too!

outer skin be prepared (for a very good job with all dings, scratches removed etc) approx ?450 - ?800 depending on where u go. Like cambridge said - u will get alot cheaper but u can pretty much guarantee in 6 mnths it will be fading, pealing or showing up old damage. Most body shops charge u for the prep work (usually 85% of their time) and dismantling trim etc/masking to get good results. If u pay ?150 I'd be v suprised to see an excellent finish. Its all about the prep work. Try using autoglym super resin polish to restore old paint - not as harsh as t-cut and excellent protection - may brighten up yer paintwork a little - enuf until u can afford to respray. Or u could be mega brave and do the whole car yerself!

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotamy!
