View Full Version : Brake Fluid Capacity??
any idea how much brake fluid the braking system takes?
Im running twin mastercylinders (bias box), single line to the rear which is on std cylinders. the front is std gsi calipers...
will i get away with half a litre? (the whole system is currently dry)
I reckon you will need at least 1L, I guess it all depends how easy your lines fill and bleed. Are you using some expensive fluid?
thats the plan... i think ill have to get a litre :( boo lol
give us a shout if you need a hand. I know how crappy a jot it can be on your own!
cheers.
Found some fluid in the US.. just trying to find a supplier whos willing to send it here.
looking at this http://www.gs610.com/ the prices are great if it performs aswell as this site claims.
How much is it?
Sounds pretty impressive.
I take it its more than the ?3 litre of dot 4 then, lol.
about $40 a litre... lol plus shipping etc. but cheaper than castrol stuff that is ?40 a litre and goes off in 4 weeks :s
Can you not just use Dot 5/5.1?
Aint that up to the job?
dot5 is only for citroen use lol and dot 5.1 dosent seem to be capable of the temp range i want.
trust me i'd have gone for the easy options first lol
Looks like you'll have to pay out for that stuff then,Lol.
if you don't mind me asking, just how hard do you brake??
have you got cooling ducts?
dont know how hard just yet.... but on trak ill assume its going to get a real beating.
ill add ducting too. Ive had boiled fluid in the past and it wasnt nice lol. so better to be over cautios etc.
I would fit some decent cooling ducts first if I were you. a mate of mine went stock hatch racing in a pug205 & he kept losing the brakes until he fitted some.
High performance brake fluid is obviously good stuff, but professional racers use it for about 3 hrs and then change every it. I'm not sure how good it is for use on the road in our lovely climate....
