One of the best:)
Top job there
I remember seeing this for the first time in 1998/99 when it was grey, It looked excellent then, looks stunning now, must be one of the most complete novas ever built, top class. If it ever came up for sale It would have to be considered regardless of the price tag!

Hi all,
Thanks Keith for hosting these pics mate,
Cheers for the comments. Had the car now about 9yrs and its evolved into whot it is today. Running out slowly of things to do so any ideas let me know! (as long as it's not fibreglass and big wheels!)
See you all at PV next month.

Of course its real carbon!!
The A pillar, B pillar, steering shroad and mirror covers are all carbon laminate, which is real carbon but the origonal plastic part is still underneath.
Bit of a cheat, more cosmetic really than a weight saving. I think they look cool so that'll do for me!
Blimey yea the CCC feature seems like a life time ago now. Car changed alot since then.

Hi mate,
I had them done over in Holland!
Not had any contact with him since Jan 05 so not sure if he still does it.
Type Carbon Laminating into google as see if it brings anything up.
Its not cheap though. The steering wheel shroad was ?120 on its own.

remember this car from the png meets at cheadle, lovely example of how to do a nova.
What colour is that though?
Looks gorgeous Martin!
Makes me want to finish mine.. :(
MARTIN KELSON

The colour is Bentley Black Violet.
Sprayed by Aide Culley who used to be a Nova man from Crewe.
Shame those Cheadle meets ended due to lack of interest. Used to be good, meet up av a pint and car chat. Those days sadly over!

I see. There was a chap on MIG doing this sort of stuff. His username was JacksonNovaturbo. havent heard anything of him for quite a while however.
Were your speedlines modded out of interest. Didnt think they made Chronos to fit Novas (ive asked before).

MARTIN KELSON
05-05-06, 04:28 PM
Yes the Speedlines were modded.
Luckily i work on same estate as Speedline wheels and Cobra seats which is handy.
Speedline got me the wheels in i think a VW offset and machined them down as far as poss for me, they ended up with an offset of about 45mm all for no extra cost!
Bonus that you dont see every Nova out there with the same wheels as you on.

Gotcha. Fair play for doing that, they are awesome wheels, Friend of mine put white ones on his 106 Rallye upon my suggestion.

Excellent car martin. A very well put together car. You can't build a car with that much care and attention overnight. 9yrs ownership is proof. Modifying cars is about evolution, not just doing it all in one go. Its 5yrs for me this August.

Hi why don't you get over to JOV as we are trying to get a monthly meet together for the North west region.
I personally used to love those cheadle meets and would love to have the good ol days like that back again.

TBH the Cheadle meets are legendary, beginning in 1996 (!) when Nicks car was still and SR, Bretts car looked like a standard SR(!) I had a 1.2 (!!!!) Fearless' Rusty Rocket was mint, like a brand new car, Jon Walsh turned up when he workd for Max Power,
Venoms were brand new and lusted after(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
That meeting is responsible for me meeting Joff, Brett, Fearless, Nick Caro, Rick Draper, Howell, Ian Storey, Martin Kelson, Lisa and Laurence, Garry Hope, Andy Horrocks and ton's of other people who I can't remember their names! In fact, it was at one of those meetings that I saw K95VHD for the first time! I took Lee H to his first meeting there, and look at him now! A hard-core enthusiast!
And it's through that meeting that I have had 2 x valvers
In fact the first meeting there were tons of cars turned up, and the landlord of the Cheadle doesn't care about how many people there were.
I remember the convoy to Stockport McDonalds, no-one could believe how many Nova's there were in a row!
Can you imagine what it'd be like if we did that now? Nice nova's are pretty rare as it is, imagine 20 of them together!!!
The idea of relocating to Preston kinda spoils the whole idea of resurrecting the old-school meet at the old-school location! I'm sure it's only 1/2 an hour further to Cheadle!!! Would love to see as many Nova's there as poss (even if you don't like my wheels!)
Remember that first meeting, was 17 with my lowly 1.0!! Got taken out for a spin by I think it was Joff in his valver and it was the fastest thing i'd ever been in (how times change).
Would be good if we could recreate it but don't think we'd have that many Nova's turn up judging by Trax etc and mine and Rick Drapers never being finshed lol. Also during the latter meets less Nova's were turning up and more daily drivers etc and thats when interest started fading IMO.
MARTIN KELSON
07-09-06, 11:24 AM
was there many Nova's at trax?
Couldn't get a pass to get me into the middle with PVG nor Novaload having a stand so i didnt bother!
Cant see there being another meet at Cheadle to be honest. The dye hard nova owners that used to go are nearly all gone now, except us few hanging on by a thread!
34yrs old and i still own a Nova!

34yrs old and i still own a Nova!
You say that like its something bad lol
Think the trouble with getting a meet like that going again is all down to the way people look after there novas. Lets face it, most of the best novas left never see the rain these days, whereas in 1996 they were daily drivers, so it was much easier for everyone to show up.
I think those days are well and truely gone.
As for trax, i counted about 8-10 novas in total, where as in 2002 i counted well over 100. All is not lost tho! There's still some fantasic novas being built and as long as the current owners hold on to there cars, and the projects get finished, the numbers at the shows can only get better!
One problem i've found is that because PNG is dead, (not PVG, the old skool proper nova club) Nova owners are all in different clubs, so there's 2 with VPCC, 3 on JOV, 2 on MIG etc etc. When all added up and put on the same stand it would be much better!

What Vauxhall clubs where in attendance then at Trax?
Miss the club scene, and Trax was always a good one to attend, shame i couldn't get any passes or i would av come down.
No point in my car blowing about ?60 of fuel for the 250 mile round trip to just stick it on a carpark.

Mig, VXON, VSCC, Corsasport. There were hundreds of Vectras and Corsa C's there and it might just be me but they nearly all look standard, especially rhe Corsa C's.

Some differant pics for those who havent seen, just to show as you would assume that under the bonnet is as clinical and awsome as the rest. This feature made me go out and get a nova, shame i havent the time or money to do this LOL
If there is enough interest we will do a stand at pv and trax again next year, in 2005 hardly anyone turned up so we didnt bother this year. Try and get a good group of novas together.
Car's come along way over the years... looks amazing!!!! :)

IMO some of the shows TRAX included are just a victim of their own success. The track time is poor value for money & to actually spend the day there is like witnessing a chav parade. So I think that could be why some of the shows lose favour with people.
I think there is genuinely room in the Vaux show calendar for a couple more decent events weekends.

I completely agree, i went to Trax a few years ago and we queued for well over 2 hours just to get in, and then spent all day looking at Saxo's covered in graphics with 20's :(

My point exactly. I went last year & the year before with my Mrs.
We both agree once was enough & 2nd time around was punishment.
I am thinking of organising a weekend for early next year (May/April) to dust off all the camping gear before the show season etc. Be good to start some social gatherings etc.
All the good shows start small & grow. Look at the treffens & stuff the euro's get upto.
SEVR a couple weeks back will hopefully grow over the years. Looked a good weekend considering it was the 1st time it was put on by a MIG forum member. Was just a bit far for me to go without my fave car on the road.
