From what i remember remove the glove box on the passenge side and you can access that speaker from there and if you take out the clock set i think you can get to the drivers side speaker. TBH i'd just disconnect the speakers as they are crap, too small to get good replacements maybe fit a tweeter on the dash where the speakers are and put a good set in the door. Take a look at these, have them in mine they are so good that i have no need for rear speakers

Dash speakers in a MK1 are 10cm. This is what I have fitted to mine at the mo. I currently have 2 ways in the dash. A good replacement for the 5watt standard jobbies Nova's had.

You can put small tweeters in the dash but you will need custom brackets to hold the tweeter in place. IMO its a good place to house tweeters.

how do you get to the wires?

If you got a Nova with no side dash vents then the panels can come off and you can get to the wires on the speaker connections from there otherwise glove box out and dials out to get to the wires.

I made some homemade door pods using a ceramic dog bowl for the shape, fibreglassed then cut and blended it to my GSi door pockets, still working on them at the moment so will post some pics soon. Hopefully won't look too bad once it's all done

I've just been making some new pods for mine, will try to get some pics this weekend, using the standard dash speakers as tweeters as the tweets from my infinitys are blown.

a pic of my door cards, they're 17cm, 13 cm speakers and a tweeter which didn't require cutting of the door.

has anyone made a fibreglass enclosure on their door cards to house speakers? i was thinking about it, aint too sure weather it would work with the arm rest bits though

Door pods have been done. Puts extra weight on the door pins etc.. Tbh Nova doors just arent built for speakers really.

hmm would some kick panels be a better idea then rather than ruining my sri doors?

I'd say. Let me get some pics up of my kick well builds. limited to 4 or 5" speakers really, but i reckon my 4" Alpines sound great down there. They are independantly angled at the drivers ears.

When I remember to charge the camera up I'll post pics of my door pods, home-made from mdf, an old t-shirt and some resin, they weigh less than a kilo each, and are fitted with some old 5 1/4" (13cm) infinity's. To kill the hinge pins in the doors you would need some seriously heavy speakers or a set of comps and a sub in each door, some lightweight pods for a set of mid-drivers are certainly not going to harm the hinges.

Depends where the speakers are. Ive seen some people fit them at the back edge of the door where more leverage will act upon the hinges.

Ive got some pics of my 1st door builds somewhere. Will look them up.

the best place to fit them without putting a strain on the door is where the window winder is on a manual window'd car.

Nope. nowhere near close to feet etc. I wear DC skate shoes & I havent had problems. Personally I wouldnt use anything bigger than 4" but my mate used to make them for his 5" JBL's. No probs then either.
