right as my nova is still in the making i want a fun good looking car to drive till the nova is done ive been looking at a bmw 316i 1.6 2door they are nice e30 model [old style] was well up for buying one but thaught id better see what insurence was on it right
ive had me liscence less than 1 year
im 18
got convictions
and the quote was 4500pound a year WOW!!!!!
and also i put it under me mums name and i was an additional driver

which is a wierd price as im driving her rover 416i 1.6 as a additional driver and im only payin half the amount of money they want to ensure the beemer
i was wondering why is that as both the cars are virtually the same size engine /body wise sorry for the long post but i want to know why

Sounds about right.

2 big reasons really:

Motoring convictions = drives like a <insert expletive>
BMW 3-series = drives like a <insert expletive>

Moral of the story: drive a runabout around until you're 21 and you've had no convictions or claims for 3 years and a 3 year no claims bonus, then get something more fun.

When im home from Uni I get added to my mum's policy on the nova (1.2), whoever dad is insured with wouldnt insure me last year on his astra estate 1.6 as a named driver on his policy. I'm currently 21, had my license since I was 18. None of us have any claims or convictions.

What convictions, what postcode etc. But yeah, at your age that sounds about right.

Also the BMW is more "desirable" than the Rover. Probably has a longer claim record too.

Forgetting the GTST yet? :P

what about this?

i'm 33, 9 years no claims, quote for Subaru Impreza 280bhp on a t-reg, uk car, 10,000 miles a year, SDP and commuting, garaged, no accident or convictions but OL1 postcode (next door to Iraq for risk assesment!) ?387 fully comp ?300 excess.

2.0 16v nova, 5,000 miles MAX, SDP ONLY! weekend car for fun, same 9yrs NCD and ........................................

?892 and a ?500 excess!

I was bored one lunchtime, so went on Confuzzled.com and wondered how much a Testerosa would cost to insure.

Cheapest quote was 1700 quid! Not bad!

Your paying ~?2200 to be insured on your Mums Rover 416 and on her policy?!?!? PMSL!

That conviction must have been for something bad as when I 17 I was insured on my 1.3 SR for ?1050 TPFT.

the convictions was about 3 years ago and it was driving without in accourdace with license and no insurance

what the fukkk wauld you know

Gunzi

Well I drive a 200SX S14a which is commonly found in drift circuits, and having been taught how to do it at a drift section last time I was at Santa Pod I can say that it takes skill. It isn't just about lighting the rear wheels up and hoping for the best nor is it about doing it going into asda car park on a saturday lunchtime

Young members shouting their mouths off don't go down too well with the mods & admin.

Grow up and you'll get more help, advice and respect generally.

Jack
04-05-06, 05:33 PM
How much of that ?300/month - ?3600/year!! - do you expect to see back if anything happens to the car?

I'd also agree with Gunzi - Drifting is hard enough on a proper track, let alone in a car park or public area thats not prepared or designed for it. Unexpected oversteer on the road is where the real "fun" begins lol

LMAO at a 316 BEAST. Theyre awesomely slow, built for economy!

If you think your going to be drifting, you have another think coming. I used to have an E30 318 and the only way to get that to drift was to find a patch of grass.

Which by the sound of you is a good thing.

Welsh Dan
04-05-06, 08:29 PM
I hear finding some gravel at the top of a cliff is an excellent place to drift 316's.

power to wait ratio........i think a 1l nova BEAST would have a 316.
