You could try a small(3mm) spacer.
But the wheels may rub the outside then.

What GSI? Cav?

They shouldn't rub at all if there nova gsi wheels.
Im assuming there Cav gsi as you say they are 15s.
It might be because of the tyres size that they rub, what tyres do they have fitted.

I paid about ?3 each for a set of spacers.

Ye, it looks like the tyre size thats causing the problem.
You really need 195/45/15 tyres on them to stop them rubbing.

What tyres are they? Something like 205/55?

the tyres are sumthin like205/55 ?? or sumthin like that they are really wide tho so that could be the problem ??? spose its hassel getting thinner tyres?? thanks

Ye, 195/45 tyres should stop them rubbing.
A budget 195/45 is about ?35.
So it might cost you a far bit to get all the tyres changed.

so just to make sure its the inner side so..opssite to the wheel nuts near the axel?? so smaller tyres or spacers thanks

Spacers wont sort it with those tyres, as they will definently rub the outer arch then.

I have 195/45 tyres fitted to my 15s, and even they rub occasionally.

Lower it, and remove the side strips.
Keep mk1 bumpers, they suit mk1 best.

The wheels may look good sprayed anthracite grey/black.

White spirit will do the job, as will T-cut etc.
The glue is tough stuff and takes a while to remove, but it will come off.
