Flushing tailgate

Thinking of getting my tailgate flushed, got a quote of ?200-?300 for it done and sprayed !! but im pretty confident I can do it myself with a little help !!! iv seen that some people weld a sheet of metal right across insted of just in the middle, is it easier this way or harder ?? and do you use fiberglass instaid of filler or do u use both ?? any pics of someone doing it them selves would be good

there was someone selling one of these on the sales wants page - save yerself work n buy it - just need respraying.
Or - cut slips up the side of the bit that goes in (the indentation by the number plate), leaving you with 2 vertical lines - slot a bit of sheet metal the right size up the slits, weld, smooth with fibreglass/body filla, back fill the gap between the new sheet metal piece and the old area with expanding foam. This way, you havnt got to worry about cutting the bit that holds the lock in place, saving u time and effort lining it up etc

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotamy!

Done mine myself, looks good, just welded a plate slightly below the recess and filled the rest ov the recess. good luck.........
