piper bp300 cam. a proper bottom end rebuild. and a load of good ole fashion nitrous.

oh dontforget to have the T40's setup correctly ;) but you could always challenege them to an endurance race lol youd deffo win that ;)

I drive a '93 GSi running on 15" wheels wrapped in t1's rubber. Engine is T40's, Piper 285 cam kit and pully, B+ head, full magnex system with a 4-2-1 manifold, avo coil overs, 2ltr 16v breaks and im pi*ssed off with loosing to the turbo boys any suggestions?

Would of thought you'd piss over them. I have at pod and on track with less a spec than yours.

Cant see why your having trouble.I held off a mildly tuned escort turbo to around 80 uphill in a 1.3sr.
And held a 5 turbo off until 4 gear at which point he over took me but then i went pass him again top end. That was in a 1.4sr.

would of thought you would win maybe not after 100. i raced a fesi turbo and beat it in my t40 sr

A Renault5 turbo is about 120bhp i think.
You should hammer that with a GSi on 40s, with a cam etc.
Your spec should be around the 130 odd bhp mark id guess, assuming the carbs are setup etc.

The RS escort is about 130bhp as well and you shouldn't be far off that either, if not beat it.

Assuming they are std tho, but who drives a std RST? Lol

yeah but you won't find many standard examples of those cars so chances are they'll be a bit fruitier than standard...
A good set of tyres, at least for the front wud reduce wheelspin off the mark, 2nd gear, and of course round the bends..?

Which gearbox are you using? and how long are the races?

Exactly the point even rough dog examples will be running around 150Bhp in either model. You need a serious build with cam and head work, easy option is slip an XE in.

Remember weight is a key factor. I used to beat a local guy in his 1.9 GTI Pug in a fully stripped Sport with 104 @ the wheels.

Sort it out and keep the Nova Boys proud!:tard:

Renault 5 GTT's can easily be made a lot quicker, much easier than a GSi Nova. IMO both cars are out of you league for racing. Wish I still had my GTT>

if you haven't already i would recomend a rolling road setup to get the best out of what you already have, that should sort it!

well you'd soon sort em out with one of themlol

i kept up with a turbo'd punto the other night. and im on a pretty standard engine.

as said though the chances of those cars being fairly standard is very slim. you see some 1.6 rst with like 300bhp, and the renault 5's loads as well.

The problem is that that it's embarrassing being beaten by rough dog examples esp. when i take so much pride in mine. Races are usually over 1/4 mile or on a hill climb winner takes all.

Ill do my best :D

If you want to beat a tuned R5, just follow it around for an hour, when it breaks down, overtake!

Just make them follow you around twisty bits. Or don't street race at all, you're less likely to have an accident and kill an endangered Nova. I'll never forget the day a teaching collegue told me to 'grow up and stop acting like a 17 year old boy racer, you'll f***ing kill yourself'!

Round some twisty bends you'll out handle & overtake a 5 'off throttle', & an RS come to think of it.

Again a 5 can be wasted at top end. I'd hold mine at 130 all day, a clever R5 owner will back off at a ton for fear of detonation or warping summat.

Ive got a 1.6turbo & can hammer RSturbo's. Thats why I built it, but 5's can be highly tuned, my mate runs 29psi on his R5 Raider, its useless beyond 110mph tho.
