Hopefully during the summer I will be taking my nova to the bodyshop to get it resprayed and add the finishing touches like delocked doors

So in the mean time Im sorting out all the remote locking. For the boot I wish to get it delocked and install a boot popper. I want to be able to open the boot via an indepentdant switch.

What equipment is needed in order to do this?

Many thanx :thumb:

You'll need a solenoid and a momentary switch. and the cable to link the switch up to the solenoid. If you can get a pull solenoid then all the better, other wise you'll have to put a push solenoid in facing up (as the boot is closed) then adjust the linkage to suit. I was looking at trying to butcher something from another Vaux to do the job in a slightly different manner, but I haven't got round to it yet.

Ok so a pull solenoid and a momentary switch.

Its off to look I go :D

One quick question. On which part of the lock mechanism do I need to link the solenoid to?

press the button in and see what moves, link the solenoid accordingly. That one you linked to might be enough, but its only around 2.5 watts. I'd be tempted to pick up one of the more powerful ones just to be sure.

Mine's the MK1 boot lock type no button. So Im thinking its just the linking hook that lifts the lock mechinism to release the boot (from what I remember)

You recon that solenoid aint gonna be adequate? Would anything over say 5watts be enough?

Thanx for the info

Yep you want it to pull the rod ideally. Otherwise you'll need to put a 90 degree bend in it and have the push type solenoid forcing it up to give the same effect. Try the scrappies and pull one off something that already has a boot pop.

Go to your local scrap yard and try find a ford fiesta xr2, these had them as standard, u can easily rob it and the button to work it, just make it fit with some thought
