im considering changing the whole exhaust on my 1.2 nova apart form the manifold and considering having a strait through 2 1/4 diameter xhaust with de-cat and no middle box and a cherry bomb back box, would this affect the performance of my car i.e make it slower or quicker? and also are cherry bomb exhausts really as loud as people say they are as i am really after getting one of these on??cheers andy. i understand that come MOT time i wouls have to swap the exhausts over as mine is a k reg and so would have to have a cat for the test!!

the cherry bomb will restrict it, doubt that it will have a 1 1/4" bore though it... plus they are ****...

best option, get a standard vaux manifold and downpipe from and gte or sr, then get a full system to match that, most gains there

As Ste said.
Fit a better flowing manifold off a SRI(for lambda hole), and then buy a full system to a SRi/Gsi/GTE.

Would a gsi manifold fit the 1.2 head though??

yer i have a straight through system and i put a cherry bomb on it and it felt slower! i still kept it though cause it sounded nice and might try it out again when i get some 40's just to scare people.

^ Yeah, i have a big bore 2 at the moment, cut the centerbox out for a straight bit of pipe and it felt alot slower, i wouldnt recommend ruining performance for sound.

^yer as said dont ruin performance for sound! i put my ashley backbox back on and got my rally car noise back and it felt loads quicker! espiecily at 3500rpm onwards

what he said, didn't notice it was a 1.2i....

use SRI or late GSI, with cat manifold and downpipe....
im sure i've got one of these somewhere

with a straight thru system, i'd reckon that an ashley back box would sound as loud and as good as a cherry bomb, plus ashley would be a better choice for power, not that it would make any difference on a 1.2 tho.

i also fitted a cherry bomb on my 1.2 t40 with no cat and straight thru centre section, altought its boy racer sorta image, its sounded great. I kept it on just for the sound, and as was mentioned the cherry bomb is an extremly small bore through the centre.

My ashley system made a noticeable difference on my 1.2.

Yep. SRI is the same too.
Apart from later GSI/SRi has a lambda sensor hole.

yea, unless it's a very late gsi with lambda sensor
