I think its the air intake temperature switch located on the inlet manifold.

I believe my engine is missing this, but the plug that goes onto it on my engine looks slightly different to the one in the pic, both the engines are E16SE's but mine is out of a GSi and the one in the pic is from a GTE.

So I guess my question is, what is it? and did they change the plugs on the later GSi engines?

Intresting, I have a spare plug left over on my GSi engine which looks simular to a injector plug, its not that long and looks like it would plug in somewhere around the inlet manifold.

How important is this as when I changed my cylinder head I caught the switch and it broke off from the inlet manifold completely!?

Is your plug slightly different to the one in the pic though?

Same as mine I believe, but mine has still got a spare plug with no home.

Just double check, the later E16SE's never had a MAP sensor did they?

Its because your car isnt a real Gsi...

It gives the engine a terrible guilt complex and things go all strange.

All e16se's had air flow meters.

Thankyou that man as I was beginning to think I was the only one with it, but as I said before can it be fixed as mine accidently snapped off when I took the inlet manifold off??
