hiya everybody, just a few questions for you all,ive been wanting to get me a 2.0 redtop nova gsi but im a bit wary, ive actually drove 2 of them, the first 1 was fine no probs at all,the second one however was really noisey n rattley inside the car,the owner told me it was because he had used some different engine mounts when he was fitting it which also made it rattle at high speed,im wanting to buy one but i want it to be a nice tight ride as in a normal car,ya know, ive heard people talkin about different engine mounts n drive shafts have a lot to do with this,if its true how come the first 1 i drove was fine?could anybody help me out as to which shafts n mounts should be used 4 what im wanting,a nice tight ride.also does anybody know how much i should be paying 4 the conversion doing if a was 2 get it done??thanx RICK:thumb: :wall:

do the conversion your self, its not that hard...

mines abit rattly, gear box knocks on tiebar, and sfi box, knocks on firewall (think thats what its called) still a smooth drive though

its like any car mate you could have two identical cars, engine, model, reg, etc but it all depends how they came off the production line, how well theyve been looked after/****ed about with etc its just a case if trying what u feel interested and go from there

right, im in the middle of doing the conversion myself so going by what people have advised me and the budget that i have (which constantly changes so dont think you can do an conversion on a budget cos it just doesnt work) i've used astra inner/outer cv's and hubs nova gsi 22" drive shafts which have been machined to take the cv's (apparently) 2.0 astra 256mm brakes, spax coilovers, nova gsi petrol tank and pump, chris astley engine mount kit, seam welding the engine bay, 15's and a full stainless decate system. plus the obvious, lump, box, wiring, ecu, manifold all ancilaries, cost so far as an indicator around ?1500 prices vary depending on base model and condition of parts N.B this price is for parts alone and not including labour as i'll be doin g the work with a mate.

you can do it on a budget,
to get the xe in mine,, excluding, usually stuff, suspension, exhaust, becuase, you'd get these any way, conversion or not...
came to less than ?320
engine & brakes - ?200
Mount - ?50
Cav 1600 Inner cv's - ?35 each
22 spiline gte shafts - ?free
Petrol Tank - ?free

so im sure, you could get an xe in the bay for less than 500
